Epiphany

A filk of Epiphany, from Sweeney Todd.
Set sometime between Jane's clockwork larp and Night of the Rooster.

THEO
I had her!
My child was reaching for my hand.
No, I had her!
My child was there and she'll never come again.

RAINA
Easy now, hush love hush
I keep telling you - what’s your rush?

THEO
When? Why did I wait?
You told me to wait -
Now she'll never come again.
There's a hole in the city like a great black pit
And inside grind gears which hiss and spit
And the slavers of the soul inhabit it.
But not for long…

They all deserve to die!
Tell you why, Raina Reynard, tell you why.
Because in all of the whole human race
Raina Reynard, there are two kinds of people, only two!
There's the one staying put in their proper place
And the one with their foot in the other one's face.
Look at me, Raina Reynard, look at you.

No, they all deserve to die.
Tell you why, Raina Reynard, tell you why.
Because the lives of the wicked should be made brief
Throughout Acryn their deaths will bring such relief -
They all deserve to die!

And I'll never see my daughter
No I'll never hug my Pig to me - finished!
Alright! You sir, purchasing a slave?
Come and visit your good friend Theo.
You sir, too sir? Welcome to the grave.

I will have vengeance.
I will have salvation.
Who sir, you sir?
The Guild won’t really care. Come on! Come on!
Theo’s. Waiting. I want you bleeders.
You sir! Anybody?
Clockmakers now don't be shy!

Not one man, no, nor ten men.
Nor a hundred can dissuade me.
I will break them!
And I will get them back even as they gloat
In the meantime I’ll do my very best to stay afloat.
And my honour lies in ashes -
And I'll never see my Pig again.

But the work waits!
I'm alive at last -
And I'm full of joy!
